Adeline Ruth (VonMoos) Beckman was born in rural La Crescent, MN on August 19, 1929 to John Peter and Luella Viola (Evans) VonMoos. She graduated from Houston High School in 1946, attended La Crosse Vocational School and then worked for Standard Oil in La Crosse for a few years.
On June 4, 1949 she married the love of her life, Freddie E. Beckman at South Ridge Evangelical United Brethren Church. Adeline is survived by her children: Eugene (Ruth) Beckman, Jennifer (Ken) Neitzel, Mary M.(Sally Witherell) Beckman, John G. (Jana) Beckman, Bruce (Mary A.) Beckman as well as her five grandchildren John P. (Joy) Beckman, Nicole (Jeremy) Gieske, Janell (Aaron) Auger, Elizabeth Beckman, Julia Beckman and her five great grandchildren: Faith & Josh Beckman; Eli, Isaac & Danny Gieske, her sister Fern (Ralph) Anderson and many nieces and nephews. Adeline was beloved by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom are thankful for her Christian guidance and example. All enjoyed her sense of humor and quick wit.
She was preceded in death by her husband Freddie, her parents and in-laws, Fred & Augusta Beckman; her sister Helen & husband Robert Wiste; her brother Lauren & wife Lucille VonMoos; 2 infant brothers, John Glen and Lyle Earl; and all of Freddie's siblings and their spouses.
Adeline farmed in rural Houston with Freddie until he passed away (May 5, 1980) and then she continued farming with John until she moved to Houston in 1991. She loved and enjoyed children and volunteered in the pre-school for several years, mended clothes for the folks in the nursing home while she visited with them, delivered meals-on-wheels, was her church's financial secretary for over 50 years, volunteered at the food shelves, was a blood donor and held various positions with the United Methodist Women and the Badger Homemakers. Adeline thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren when they came to visit. She always had lessons to teach if asked and lots of baked goods, great meals and she was known for long goodbyes. In her retirement years she enjoyed several lengthy trips with her sisters and children.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at South Ridge United Methodist Church in rural La Crescent, MN (1781 Chicken Ridge Rd), burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Hoff Funeral Home 710 East Cedar, Houston, MN and one hour before the service at South Ridge United Methodist Church. Memorials are preferred to Hillcrest Cemetery Association.
