Adele Suzanne Mears, 85, of Chatfield went to her heavenly reward at the Chosen Valley Care Center on March 23, 2016. Adele was born July 8th, 1930 in Oakland, California to Fredrick Anthony and Emma Albina (Bundcheau) Haas.
Adele attended school in California and graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland in 1950. On November 11, 1950 she married William McCartney Mears in Reno, Nevada.
Adele worked as a cook at the Dominican Convent for 23 years in Fremont, California. She was Mom to all of the neighborhood kids. Her house was always the the “go-to” home in the neighborhood.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, her grandchildren were a special joy in her life. She grew to love Minnesota from her frequent visits. In 2005 she retired to Minnesota and became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Her faith was important to her and she was always active in her Catholic Parishes. She loved to read, watch TV, and taught all of her grandchildren to play bingo.
Adele is lovingly remembered by her children: Theresa (Wayne) Kennedy of Newark, California; Susan (Wayne) Kester of Chatfield; Deborah (Lyle) Buss of Chatfield; Michael (Arlene) Mears of Cameron Park, California; & Judith Mears, of Chatfield. Nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren also survive. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Charles Haas, a sister Marian Hulse and grandson Jeff Buss.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Monday, March 28th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chatfield with Father William Thompson officiating. A rosary will be said at 9:00 AM on Monday morning followed by visitation until the time of service at the church. Rite of Committal will be in Calvary Cemetery in Chatfield.
