Lloyd Eugene Snow

HOUSTON, MINN. - Lloyd Eugene Snow, 88, of Houston, Minn. died on Friday, February 20, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wis. Lloyd was born on November 19, 1920 to George and Edith (Moberg) Snow in Calhoun County, Iowa. He attended Manson, Iowa area schools. In 1942, he enlisted in the Navy and served as an aviation metalsmith at Pearl Harbor. He met and married Mildred Johnson in Seattle, Wash. where she was working for Boeing Aircraft, building B-17 bombers for the war effort. In 1946, Lloyd and Millie returned to Manson where he operated an auto body repair shop. In the early 1950's, they moved to Mason City, Iowa where Lloyd was self employed as an auto mechanic and dealer for Indian Motorcycles. In 1957, Lloyd and Millie bought a small farm near Canton, Minn. and grew that business into a larger operation in Looney Valley, Minn. in 1966. Lloyd was a member of the Arnet - Sheldon American Legion Post # 423 as well as being President of the Caledonia Rod and Gun Club. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred; one son, Richard (Evonne) Snow of Houston; two granddaughters: Laura Scanlan (Joe Krage) and their children: Rachel, Bailey, Brandy, Ariel, and Riley, and Jenny (Mitch) Hahn and their children: Emma, Nathan, and Jeana; foster granddaughter: Jannette Spencer (Paul Langen) all of Houston; two brothers: Francis of Manson, Iowa, and Bill (Betty) of Des Moines, Iowa. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, at Looney Valley Lutheran Church in rural Houston with the Rev. Peter Huggenvik officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery in rural Houston with Military Honors by the Arnet - Sheldon American Legion Post # 423 of Houston.
